How to make simple but effective mould & mildew cleaners

There’s nothing more rewarding than a clean home! There is nothing worse than a musty room.

This is the time of year when most people start to clean up their homes for Christmas decorations, get ready for the holidays, get rid of some clutter, and make room for visitors for the holidays. One thing you might be trying to get rid of is mildew in your bathroom, shower, or around the windows. To help make this task easier, here are some easy ways to use hydrogen peroxide to kill mildew in your home!

What are you looking for when it comes to a mildew cleaner? Something easy to use, effective, and inexpensive? Well, then this post is for you!

Hydrogen Peroxide:

Did you know hydrogen peroxide is a mildew cleaner? Hydrogen peroxide is an excellent mildew cleaner.

Here are some benefits:

It’s harmless to use around pets and kids

it doesn’t have a strong smell like bleach does

It can be used to clean off the mold without any harsh chemicals

Whether it’s in your shower, on your window sill, or behind the toilet, this stuff will eliminate all traces of mildew and leave your home smelling fresh!

Every day we are exposed to deadly toxins in our homes that come from dirt, dust, and grime. These pollutants get into everything-our skin, hair and clothes-and contribute to stress levels and diseases such as asthma.

Fortunately, there are ways to combat these toxins with natural solutions so you can breathe more accessible while also saving money!

3% hydrogen peroxide is the most potent concentration for cleaning, but you can dilute it down to 0.5%. This will still have some disinfecting power and make your house smell lovely!

Here are some simple steps for cleaning your home with hydrogen peroxide!

Using a spray bottle, add 3% hydrogen peroxide straight from the bottle, or you can dilute it by adding 2 cups of distilled water with one cup of hydrogen peroxide.

  1. Spray the mixture on the surface as needed or on other non-porous surfaces and leave it dry for at least an hour.
  2. Clean or wash the area with clean water and allow it to air dry.

Keep in mind that peroxide will kill the mold or mildew but will not remove the stains.

Do not use on certain materials like marble, granite countertops, etc. Its pH levels may damage some surfaces if used incorrectly. Since there’s no way around this – I’ve seen many people ruin new surfaces by mistake). Instead, opt for something safe with little aromas, such as white vinegar, which has less than 10 parts of Hydrogen Ion Content.

Tea Tree Oil

Cleaning with Tea tree oil is rewarding because it’s a natural and safe way to clean your home. The oil has been utilized for centuries as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial agent.

When I think of cleaning products, the word “toxic” comes to mind. As much as I can, I prefer all things natural, and using natural ingredients for cleaning is very important to me. That’s why my favorite way to clean it is with tea tree oil! Not only does it leave my home smelling fresh, but it’s also a great way to repel insects from entering in through open windows or doors. And did I mention that this stuff works on all kinds of surfaces throughout your house?

Here is how to utilize tea tree oil for cleaning:

  1. Blend two teaspoons of tea tree oil with two cups of distilled water in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the mixture on the infected areas.
  3. Just allow it to dry and do not rinse
  4. Repeat treatment if necessary.

This multi-purpose essential oil can be safely used around pets and children without any side effects or chemical residue left behind on surfaces where it’s applied. It’s entirely safe for use around the kitchen.

Distilled White Vinegar

I’ve been using distilled white vinegar to clean my house for a while, and it’s fantastic! White vinegar is so much better than bleach because of the fumes, which can be harmful. It cleans well, if not better, than other cleaners. I’m happy I found out about this new cleaner!

Here is how to use it:

  1. Using a spray bottle, pour distilled white vinegar straight from the bottle
  2. Spray the mixture on mildew area
  3. Let it do its magic, wait for a few minutes then, rinse with clean water.
  4. Depending on the surface you are dealing with, let it air dry or dry with a cloth.
